Summary : This section explains how Sanplex generates test reports from test request data to summarize test scope, runs, linked cases, remaining bugs, and charts. It also notes how to adjust report dates to include late executions and how to export reports in Word or HTML for communication and decision-making.

Feature Overview

A Test Report is a concluding document that summarizes the testing process and results. It provides a comprehensive view of product quality and helps the project team make timely decisions.

Sanplex automatically generates a test report based on the data scope of a Test Request. The report output typically includes report details, test scope, test rounds, linked test cases, open (unresolved) bugs, and charts/metrics, ensuring the team can fully understand the overall testing status.

With test reports, teams can analyze results, identify potential quality issues and risks, and use the findings as input for subsequent development and testing activities.

Typical Use Scenarios

  • Decision Support: At different stages of delivery, test reports provide key quality data to help the team decide whether the product is ready for release.
  • Quality Assessment: Project Managers and stakeholders can assess coverage and defect status (such as bug counts and severity) to evaluate stability and reliability.
  • Communication and Reporting: Test reports provide clear results and data for communicating progress with customers, management, or other teams, ensuring all parties share a consistent understanding of project status.
  • Bug Tracking and Prioritization: Open bugs recorded in the report help developers prioritize critical issues and ensure timely fixes in subsequent iterations, improving overall product quality.

1. Generate a Test Report

After testing is completed, you can generate a test report from the Test module in Sanplex: select the test request you want to report on, then click Generate Report. The system will generate the test report automatically.

The start and end dates of the test report default to the start and end dates of the test request. If test cases are still executed after the test request due date, you must manually adjust the test report start/end dates so the newly executed results are included in the report statistics.

2. Report Content and Export

A test report typically includes sections such as Report Details, Test Scope, Test Rounds, Linked Test Cases, Open Bugs, and Reports/Charts. A generated report can be exported to Word or HTML for use in different contexts.
