This document introduces the installation and upgrade process for Sanplex. Sanplex provides two management modes during the upgrade: Classic Mode and Program Management Mode.

1. Classic Mode: Features a left navigation bar and multi-app viewing and operations.
2. Program Management Mode: In addition to the left navigation bar and multi-app features, it introduces the concepts and functions of Programs and Executions.

If you upgrade using the Classic Mode, you can later switch to the Program Management Mode via Admin > Custom > Mode. However, once you upgrade to the Program Management Mode, you cannot revert to the Classic Mode. Please choose the mode based on your actual business needs.

I. Sanplex Upgrade Steps

1. Upgrade Procedure

1.1 Back up your data before upgrading. This is extremely important.

1.2 Download the Sanplex source code package (the file ending in .zip).

1.3 Extract the source code package and overwrite the original directory. For example, if Sanplex is installed in C:\xampp\sanplex, overwrite the code in C:\xampp\sanplex. Method: Copy all files under the extracted sanplex/ directory and paste them into xampp\sanplex\.

1.4 Execute the upgrade script. If your Sanplex access path is [http://192.168.1.99/sanplex/](http://192.168.1.99/sanplex/), the upgrade path is [http://192.168.1.99/sanplex/upgrade.php](http://192.168.1.99/sanplex/upgrade.php).

1.5 Follow the wizard, select your current version, and follow the prompts to complete the upgrade.

2. Important Notes

• Do not move the original program files before extracting the new version. Ensure you are overwriting the existing files.
• Do not extract into a nested directory like C:\xampp\sanplex\sanplex.
• Do not download the .exe program for upgrading, as it will overwrite your original data.

II. Upgrading via Classic Mode

Select the Classic Mode and click the "Start Upgrade" button.

Since the upgrade SQL has already been executed, you only need to create a full-text search index to complete the upgrade successfully.

After a successful upgrade, you need to configure your personal settings upon your first login. You can set the default requirement concept, default product landing page, and default project landing page. These settings only apply to the current logged-in user.

III. Upgrading via Program Management Mode

If you have successfully upgraded using the Classic Mode, administrators can still switch to the Program Management Mode via Admin > Custom > Mode.

Alternatively, you can directly select the Program Management Mode during the initial upgrade steps.

After upgrading to the Program Management Mode, you must migrate your data first. Please follow the wizard's instructions. Once upgraded, products can still be viewed in the Product view.

Please note: After migrating data in the Program Management Mode, there are differences in how projects are structured.

• In the Classic Mode, a project acts as a single sprint/iteration, which is visible in the Execution view.
• In the Program Management Mode, a project can contain one or multiple sprints/iterations, which is visible in the Project view.

Sanplex provides four data migration solutions:

• Products and iterations organized by product line: Migrate products and iterations under an entire product line into one program and project, or migrate them separately as needed.
• Iterations organized by product: Migrate multiple products and their iterations into one program and project, or migrate a single product and its iterations into one program and project.
• Independent iterations: Migrate multiple iterations into one program, or migrate a single iteration into one program.
• Iterations linked to multiple products: Choose to assign such iterations to a specific new project.

Next, follow the prompts to migrate the data.

When migrating independent iterations or iterations linked to multiple products, you can place them into existing programs and projects, or create new ones.

Once the data migration is complete, congratulations! You have successfully upgraded to Sanplex in Program Management Mode.
