Summary : This section introduces core project concepts, explains how projects, sprints, and executions relate to each other, and outlines the basic setup for all major project models in Sanplex.

Before managing a project, it helps to understand how projects, iterations, sprints, and executions are defined in Sanplex. This section introduces the basic concepts and setup options used when managing projects and executions.

I. Project Concepts

1. Project and Iteration

In Sanplex, you can choose whether your team uses the Project / Iteration terminology model based on your preferred workflow. This can be configured in Admin > Model Configuration > Common > Workflow Settings.

The examples in this section use the default Project terminology.

2. Project and Execution

Depending on the selected management model, a project can contain multiple sprints or phases. In Sanplex, these iterations, sprints, or phases are collectively managed as Executions.

Each Execution typically corresponds to one sprint or one phase, and is used to track project work and deliver project outcomes.

3. Project and Sprint

A project can contain multiple sprints or phases. Click a sprint name to open its corresponding Execution page.

II. Manage Projects, Iterations/Sprints, and Executions

1. Create a project or iteration

In the Project module, click Create Project.

You can create either:

  • a project under a Program, or
  • an independent standalone project.

When creating the project, pay attention to the following settings:

  • Access Control
  • Permission Control
  • Task Time Constraints (Standard feature)
  • Linked Requirement Settings

Task Time Constraints

  • Restrict subtask dates: When enabled, you must first set the parent task schedule before setting the subtask schedule. A subtask cannot fall outside the date range of its parent task.
  • Auto-extend parent task dates: When enabled, if a subtask’s start or end date goes beyond the parent task range, the parent task dates are automatically extended.

Linked Requirement Settings

By default, a project can link both User Requirements and Development Requirements. If your workflow is more strictly controlled, you can limit it to Development Requirements only.

2. Create a sprint

After a sprint is created successfully, a pop-up notification appears.

The recommended sequence is: Set Team > Link Development Requirements > Create Tasks

图4

3. Manage executions

After a sprint is created, it is automatically added to the Execution module. In Execution, you can track and manage tasks, requirements, testing, releases, and related work items.

Detailed task breakdown steps are covered in the relevant task management section.

III. Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban, Hybrid Agile, and Hybrid Waterfall Project Models

Sanplex supports five project management models:

  • Scrum
  • Waterfall
  • Kanban
  • Hybrid Agile
  • Hybrid Waterfall

This gives teams more flexibility in choosing the model that best fits their delivery workflow.

To create a project, click Project > Create Project, or use the global Create button to add a project. You will first need to choose a Project Management Mode.

6. Browse projects

Created projects can be viewed in the Project List.

You can filter the list by Program, or by project status such as All, In Progress, Not Started, Suspended, and Closed. You can also select My Participated Projects to show only projects you are involved in.
