Summary : This section explains how to start reviews, complete review workflows, track approval progress, and manage review issues for deliverables, baselines, and project changes.

Feature Overview

The Project Reviews feature provides a standardized way to review key project outputs, log and follow up on nonconformities, and establish traceable, controlled baselines. It helps ensure that deliverables at each stage meet quality expectations.

By supporting structured review workflows, this feature helps organizations build stronger quality control practices, verify project deliverables thoroughly, and meet compliance or audit requirements while maintaining delivery quality.

Use Cases

  • Requirements specification review: The project team starts a baseline review for a completed requirements specification. Business experts and technical leads provide feedback from both business and technical perspectives, log nonconformities, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Design document review: Architects and the development team run multiple review rounds on system design documents, identify issues in areas such as interface design and database design, and finalize the baseline after all issues are resolved.
  • Code baseline review: Near the end of the development phase, a configuration manager reviews the release-ready code baseline to confirm that it meets coding standards and design requirements before it is formally baselined.
  • Test report review: The quality team reviews completed test reports to confirm that test coverage and defect resolution meet release criteria before the project moves to the next stage.

The Reviews feature supports the following review types:

  • Deliverable Review
  • Baseline Review
  • Project Change Review

Model support:

  • Baseline Review: available for Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall projects
  • Project Change Review: available for Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall projects

Note: The Deliverables, Baseline, and Project Change features each have their own feature toggle. The corresponding feature must be enabled before you can start a review.

1. Start a Review

Click Start Review, choose the review type, and complete the required information.

Supported review flows include:

  • start a Deliverable Review
  • start a Baseline Review
  • start a Project Change Review

The approval workflow for the review object can be changed in Project > Settings > Review Settings.

2. Review

Reviewers click Review to open the review page.

The content to be reviewed is shown on the left. On the right, you can see the review checklist, review comments, and the review issue list.

2.1 Review checklist

For each checklist item, you can choose Compliant, Noncompliant, or Not Applicable.

  • If you select Noncompliant, you can log multiple issues for that item. These issues appear under Project > Reviews > Review Issues.
  • You can later assign those issues and follow up on their resolution from the Review Issues list.
  • Review checklist items can be configured in Admin > Project Workflow > Review Workflow > Checklist.

2.2 Issue list

The issue list shows issues logged by other reviewers during the current review.

2.3 Review result

For the review result, you can choose Approved, Approved with Conditions, or Rejected, and record your review comments.

If you choose Approved with Conditions, the review moves to the next approval step just like Approved. However, the approval progress will still show that your result was Approved with Conditions.

3. Approval Progress

Click Approval Progress to view the progress of the current review.

4. Withdraw a Review

The review initiator can click Withdraw to withdraw the review, update the content, and submit it again.

Whether the initiator is allowed to withdraw a review can be configured in the approval workflow.

5. Resubmit a Review

After making updates, the initiator can click Submit Review to resubmit the review.

6. Review Report

Click Review Report to view the report for the current review object.

7. Edit

If the initiator withdraws the review, or if an approver sends it back to the initiator, the initiator can click Edit to update the review content and then resubmit it.

8. Review Issues

Click Review Issues to view all issues raised during the review process. You can also track issue status and resolution progress, or edit and delete issues here.

8.1 Add a review issue

Click Add Review Issue to submit a review issue.

Only review objects with a failed review can have additional issues submitted here. In the normal workflow, issues should be submitted during the review itself.

8.2 Edit a review issue

Click Edit to update the issue.

8.3 Complete

After the assignee finishes the work, they can click Complete, choose a resolution, and update the issue status.

8.4 Close

After the assignee completes the work and the reporter accepts the resolution, the issue can be closed.

8.5 Reopen

If the reporter does not accept the resolution after the assignee completes the work, the issue can be reopened for further follow-up.

8.6 Delete

Users can delete the issue.
