Feature introduction

This section introduces how to use the project process tailoring feature. The project process tailoring guide provides methods for customizing standard software processes. Based on project metrics and specific characteristics, it guides the Project Manager in tailoring the standard process to formulate the project's unique development workflow. Following this tailored process, the project Test team writes the project Test inspection plan and checklists.

Organizational standard processes typically include technical, management, administrative, support, and organizational-level processes. The standard process set should comprehensively cover all processes required by the organization and its projects. The purpose of defining these processes is to establish and maintain a collection of usable organizational process assets, work environment standards, and team rules and guidelines.

Process assets include the Organization's Set of Standard Processes (OSSP) and supporting assets:

• OSSP: A collection of the best processes, procedures, practices, methods, and tools achievable by the organization.
• Supporting assets: Metrics libraries, training libraries, experience libraries, risk libraries, and more.

Organizational process assets ensure consistent process execution and provide a foundation for cumulative, long-term benefits. The process asset library supports organizational learning and continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned.

1. Tailor project processes

In Sanplex Premium, you can access the process tailoring feature by navigating to Project > Other > Process.

Sanplex provides built-in processes, activities, and documents. You can tailor these elements according to the actual situation of your specific project.

Click the Process Tailoring button, select the tailoring result (Execute or Do Not Execute), and fill in the reason for your decision.

2. Configure project processes

You must configure the process activity list and document list by navigating to Admin > Model > Waterfall > Process.

Process categories can be managed and organized through the category settings.

3. Define tailoring guidelines

You should clarify tailoring guidelines to provide clear instructions for process tailoring.

These guidelines explicitly specify what can be tailored, what cannot be tailored, and under what specific circumstances certain items can be adjusted.
