Feature Overview

Project Opportunity Management is the structured process of identifying, tracking, and managing uncertain events that may have a positive impact on project objectives.

With opportunity management, teams can proactively discover and act on favorable conditions in a project. Supported strategies include Monitor, Exploit, Create, Enhance, and Accept.

Project opportunities can also be imported into the Opportunity Library for centralized management, making them easier to reference and reuse in other projects.

Use Cases

• Opportunity identification: Project managers and team members can identify potential opportunities during day-to-day work, including technical, management, and business-related opportunities.
• Opportunity assessment: Teams can evaluate identified opportunities in detail, including source analysis, impact rating (1-5), probability rating (1-5), and automatically calculated opportunity score and priority.
• Opportunity tracking: Teams can continuously track opportunities that remain open, record changes over time, and follow them until they are acted on, suspended, or closed.
• Organizational knowledge capture: Valuable project opportunities can be imported into the Opportunity Library to build reusable organizational knowledge assets for future projects.
• Cross-project reuse: Similar opportunities identified across projects can be referenced or reused based on successful cases from previous projects.

1. Add an Opportunity

Click the Add button in the upper-right corner of the opportunity list page to open the opportunity creation page.

• Source: Business Department, Project Team, Project Support Function, Management, External Customer, Other
• Type: Technical, Management, Business, Requirements, Resource, Other
• Strategy: Monitor, Exploit, Create, Enhance, Accept
• Impact: 1-5, from low to high
• Probability: 1-5, from low to high
• Opportunity Score: 1-25 (Impact × Probability)
• Priority: Calculated automatically as Low, Medium, or High based on Impact and Probability

Click Save to return automatically to the opportunity list.

You can also import historical opportunity assets from the Opportunity Library.

2. Opportunity Actions and Statuses

• Statuses: Open, Closed, Suspended, Canceled
• Actions: Track, Close, Cancel, Suspend, View Log, Edit

You can select opportunities and Import to Opportunity Library to turn them into reusable organizational knowledge assets.

You can also batch edit or assign opportunities.

When tracking an opportunity, if the opportunity has changed, click Track and select Yes. The system will then open the detailed edit view so you can record and follow the change over time.
