Summary : This section introduces the project opportunities feature, explaining how to identify uncertainties that positively impact project goals. It details how to create opportunities, assign impact and probability scores, track dynamic changes, and import valuable opportunities into the Asset Library for future organizational reuse.

Feature introduction

An opportunity refers to an uncertainty that may positively impact the achievement of project goals. You can proactively identify and seize these opportunities using your team's capabilities. Opportunity management strategies include Monitor, Create, Exploit, Enhance, and Accept.

Project Managers must identify, track, and manage opportunities throughout the project execution phase. You can import project opportunities into the Asset Library > Opportunity Library for centralized management. This facilitates identification and reuse as a reference in future projects.

1. Add opportunities

Click the Create button in the upper right corner of the opportunity list page to enter the creation page.

Fill in the opportunity details based on the following fields:

  • Source: Business Department, Project Team, Project Support Department, Management, External Customer, or Other.
  • Type: Technical, Management, Business, Story, Resource, or Other.
  • Strategy: Monitor, Exploit, Create, Enhance, or Accept.
  • Impact: Ranks from 1 to 5 (from lowest to highest).
  • Probability: Ranks from 1 to 5 (from lowest to highest).
  • Opportunity score: Ranges from 1 to 25. The system calculates this by multiplying the Impact by the Probability.
  • Priority: The system automatically calculates this as Low, Medium, or High based on the impact and probability.

After clicking Save, you will automatically return to the opportunity list.

Alternatively, you can import historical assets directly from the Opportunity Library within the Asset Library.

2. Opportunity actions and statuses

  • Statuses: Open, Closed, Suspended, and Canceled.
  • Actions: Track, Close, Cancel, Suspend, View Log, and Edit.

You can select a specific opportunity and click Import to Opportunity Library to convert it into an organizational process asset. The system also supports batch editing and assignment for multiple opportunities.

To track an opportunity, click the Track button in the action column. If the opportunity conditions have changed, select "Yes" during the tracking process. The system will display the detailed information on an edit page, allowing you to record and track these dynamic changes effectively.
