Sanplex paid versions (Standard, Premium, Enterprise) integrate LibreOffice and Collabora Office.

After configuring LibreOffice, documents in Sanplex support online preview. After configuring Collabora Office, documents support online preview and editing.

LibreOffice Online Preview

Online preview requires installing LibreOffice on the host where Sanplex is deployed.

Note: Do not install LibreOffice in a directory path that contains spaces or non-ASCII characters.

After installing LibreOffice, enable the feature in Admin > System Settings > Office, and fill in the path to the LibreOffice conversion program.

The example path below is for Windows. On Linux, use a path similar to /usr/bin/libreoffice6.4 (use the actual binary name for your installed version).

On Windows, the LibreOffice program path may look like: D:\LibreOffice\program\soffice.com You must convert it to forward slashes before entering it, for example: D:/LibreOffice/program/soffice.com

After configuration succeeds, you can preview documents online. Attachments added under User Stories, Tasks, Bugs, Test Cases, etc. can be opened directly to view their content.

Collabora Office Online Preview and Editing

1. Install Collabora Office

Install Collabora Office first, then configure the Collabora Office URL in Admin > System Settings > Office.

2. Configure Collabora Office

2.1 Using Collabora Office requires PATH_INFO access mode

2.1.1 Configure URL rewrite rules (pseudo-static) in your Sanplex runtime environment so URLs support rewriting.

2.1.2 In the Sanplex config directory, modify my.php and change: $config->requestType = 'GET' to: $config->requestType = 'PATH_INFO'

2.1.3 After the change, restart the Sanplex service.

2.1.4 When Sanplex is accessed using GET mode, the Collabora Office section under Admin > System Settings > Office is hidden by default. It is displayed after switching access mode to PATH_INFO.

2.2 Collabora Office path supports URL only

2.2.1 Collabora Office and Sanplex can be deployed on the same server or on different servers.

2.2.2 The Collabora Office URL format is https://<server-ip>:9980. The default port is 9980 (unless a reverse proxy is used).

2.2.3 The Sanplex server and the Collabora Office server must be network reachable to each other.

2.3 Supported formats for online editing

Collabora Office supports online editing for .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx.

After saving edits, the document is updated directly. Other formats support online preview only.

3. Online Editing with Collabora Office

Using a Word document as an example:

Click a document attachment (e.g., About Sanplex.doc).

Collabora Office opens the document in online preview.

Click Edit in the top-right of the preview page to enter editing mode. If you enable Edit > Track Changes > Record, edits will record the current Sanplex logged-in user’s editing information.

After editing, the right side displays change markers for different users. You can accept or reject changes. Once accepted or rejected, the corresponding markers disappear.

After saving and exiting, changes are automatically recorded and saved back to the original document.
