Summary : This section explains the hierarchical concepts of projects, iterations, and executions in Sanplex, detailing how to create them across five distinct management models: Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban, Hybrid Agile, and Hybrid Waterfall.

Before creating projects, let's understand the concepts of project, iteration, sprint, and execution in Sanplex. Project Managers can watch the following video to learn how to create projects and executions:

视频介绍

I. Project concepts

1. Project and iteration

In Sanplex, you can configure whether to use the "Project" or "Iteration" concept based on your team's preference. You can set this up by navigating to Admin > Model Configuration > General > Process Settings. We will use the default "Project" terminology for the following demonstrations.

2. Project and execution

Depending on the selected management model, a single project can contain multiple sprints or phases. We collectively refer to these multiple iterations, sprints, or phases as "executions." One execution typically corresponds to one sprint. Teams complete project tasks and deliver final results through these executions.

3. Project and sprint

A project can include multiple sprints or phases. Clicking on a sprint name will navigate you directly to the corresponding execution page.

II. Create projects, iterations/sprints, and executions

1. Create projects or iterations

Under the Project module, click Create Project. You can create a sub-project belonging to a specific program or create an independent project. Pay attention to configuring Access Control, Permission Control, Task Time Limits (a feature available in Sanplex Standard), and Story Linking Concepts.

Task Time Limits:

  • Limit sub-task time: When enabled, you must set the parent task time before setting the sub-task time. The duration of sub-tasks cannot exceed the timeframe of their parent task.
  • Automatically extend parent task time: When enabled, if the start and end dates of a sub-task exceed the parent task's timeframe, the system will automatically extend the parent task's duration.

Story Linking Concepts:

  • By default, you can only link "User Stories" and "Stories" within a project. If your workflow requires strict adherence, you can configure it so that only standard "Stories" can be linked.

2. Create sprints

After successfully adding a sprint, you will receive a pop-up prompt. It is recommended to proceed with operations in this specific order: Set up the team, link stories, and then create tasks.

3. Create and track executions

After a sprint is successfully added, it automatically appears in the Execution module. Within an execution, you can track and manage tasks, stories, testing activities, and builds. Detailed operations are explained in Chapter " Attend the Product Planning Meeting and Break Down Tasks "

III. Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban, Hybrid Agile, and Hybrid Waterfall management models

Sanplex comprehensively supports five project management models: Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban, Hybrid Agile, and Hybrid Waterfall. These robust features offer users highly flexible choices to fit different development lifecycles. We will detail these five models below.

To begin, click the Create Project button under the Project module, or click the global add button. First, you must select a project management model.

6. Browse and view projects

Successfully created projects are visible in the project list. You can filter and view them by their parent program. You can also filter them using tabs such as All, Doing, Unstarted, Suspended, and Closed. Additionally, you can filter the list by checking the "Involved by me" option.
