After the tasks of a project/execution are broken down, project team members need to claim the tasks they prefer and start their daily development. In addition to daily coding work, they should also update the task status and consumed hours every day.
How do developers claim tasks in Sanplex? Check out the video below:
【视频介绍】
I. Claiming Tasks
According to Scrum principles, everyone claims the tasks they prefer, which can better mobilize the team's enthusiasm.
Some might ask: What if no one claims a task? What if everyone picks the easy ones? What if a novice picks a critical task? What if the workload is unbalanced? These are not actually problems. Because information is public and transparent, an individual cannot pick only simple tasks every time. Of course, the project/execution manager's macro-level control is also indispensable. Especially for some critical tasks, it requires balancing, targeted allocation, and assignment.
You can claim tasks in two ways: via the Assign action, or via the Edit action.
1. Assigning Tasks
You can operate by clicking the Assign To button in the task list or the Assign button on the task details page.
By clicking Assign To in the task list, you can assign the task or modify the task assignee.

Clicking the Assign button in the action bar of the task details page can also assign the task.

Click Assign To to assign the task to project/execution team members.

2. Editing Tasks
Click the Edit button on the right side of the task list or in the action bar of the task details page. Set the assignee on the right side of the task details interface.

You can similarly assign the task and change the task assignee.

When the current user views the task list, tasks assigned to them can be retrieved and viewed via the Assigned to Me tab.

You can also view tasks assigned to yourself by navigating to Dashboard > To-Do > Task.

II. Updating Task Status
After the project/execution starts, everyone should update the status of the tasks they are responsible for in a timely manner every day. We provide several operation buttons for updating the task status: Start, Finish, Close, Cancel, and Activate.
- Tasks in the "Started" status also provide a Pause button, and tasks in the "Paused" status provide a Resume button.
- Only started tasks can be paused, and only paused tasks can be resumed.
Sanplex provides a workflow where, after a task is finished, it is automatically assigned back to the task creator. At this time, the task creator can verify whether the task is complete. If it is complete, the task is closed. If the task is not complete, it is activated.
III. Updating Task Consumed Hours
In addition to updating the status of the tasks you are responsible for, you should also update the task hour consumption in a timely manner:
- Initially Estimated: The initial estimate when creating the task. This field should not be modified after the task starts. After the task is completed, this field can be compared with the total consumed field to correct your future estimations.
- Total Consumed: The total number of hours you have spent on this task.
- Estimated Remaining: The estimated time you think is still needed to complete this task. If the estimated remaining is 0, it means the task is completed.
Note: It needs to be specially emphasized here that: Initially Estimated ≠ Total Consumed + Estimated Remaining.
You must update the tasks you are responsible for every day because the Burndown chart is calculated through this Estimated Remaining field.
You can update hours by clicking the Effort button in the right-hand action bar of the task list, or by clicking the Effort operation button in the action bar of the task details page.

When updating hours, you need to fill in the total consumed and estimated remaining hours, and briefly state the work content in the remarks.

IV. Submitting Code
After developing stories and resolving bugs, developers need to submit code. Under Project/Execution > Code, we provide a code repository feature where you can browse and view the code related to the project/execution.
